The S-90 is the large-diameter member of the Sta-Saf family. Where most reverse buckling disks stop at DN600, the S-90 goes on to DN1000, which makes it the disk for big low-pressure equipment: storage vessels, large columns, driers and vent headers where the required relief area is simply large.
It keeps the qualities of the family at these sizes: compression loading, full vacuum resistance without a support, 90 % operating ratio and a hinged, non-fragmenting opening. That last point is important on large flare and vent headers, where a fragmenting disk would send metal downstream. The S-90 is also a straightforward upgrade for older large forward-acting disks that need vacuum supports and frequent replacement.
