Reliance LevelMax Optima three and four instrument drum level assemblies

Ready-to-install drum level bridle with three or four independent instruments: Eye-Hye SmartLevel, one or two guided wave radar transmitters and a Simpliport 180 gage glass, for redundant multi-technology monitoring in power boilers and HRSGs.

LevelMax Optima extends the LevelMax idea to three or four instruments on one ready-to-install bridle. Each instrument works independently and uses its own principle, so a single cause cannot take out all level readings at once.

The Eye-Hye SmartLevel shows the level on remote indicators with its blowdown notification. Guided wave radar gives a continuous signal to the boiler control system over the full range, without the frozen or plugged small sensing lines of other transmitters. The Simpliport 180 gives the direct reading, ASME Section I compliant view with a 180° viewing angle. In the three instrument version this meets the code minimum; the four instrument version adds a second radar for redundancy.

The positions of the instruments on the bridle can be chosen to suit the drum structure and access. For HRSGs and combined cycle plants, insulated and heat traced radar and probe chambers protect against winter freeze shutdowns better than heated sensing tubes.

Selection data we need

Three or four instrument version, drum design pressure and temperature, connection centres, preferred radar brand and output, SmartLevel probe count and outputs, Simpliport model and visibility, instrument positions, area classification and whether insulation and heat tracing are needed.

Applications

  • HRSG and combined cycle drum level
  • Power boilers needing redundancy beyond the code minimum
  • Freeze protection of drum level instruments (insulated, heat traced chambers)
  • Ordinary and classified area locations
