Passive explosion isolation valve for ducts DN100 to DN600: the pressure wave of an explosion drives a float against its seat and locks the duct, in one or both directions, with no external energy.
An explosion in a dust collector does not stay there. The pressure wave and flame travel through the connected ducts into the next piece of equipment, where the dust that has been stirred up by the pressure wave gives a secondary explosion, typically far more severe than the first. Isolation valves break that chain.
The Ventex is a passive isolation valve: it needs no detection, no power and no control system. In normal operation the float sits in the airstream with little pressure loss. When an explosion pressure wave arrives, it pushes the float onto its seat within milliseconds and locks it there, closing the duct before the flame reaches it. Versions are available for protection in one direction or in both, and a position switch can signal that the valve has closed.
