BS&B ESI-P external activated isolation valve

Active explosion isolation valve, DN100 to DN600, closed by external energy on a detector signal. Its special operating mode also gives effective protection against fires propagating through the duct.

The ESI-P is an actively operated isolation valve that closes on command from a detection system, using external energy rather than the explosion pressure. That independence from the pressure wave means it can be positioned flexibly in the duct and closes just as reliably against a slow-developing fire as against a fast deflagration.

This dual role is its strength. Combined with spark or flame detection, the same valve stops burning material and smoke from reaching the workplace, and combined with pressure detection it isolates an explosion. It is a natural partner for the SparkEx and Type IPD systems.

Duct size and airflow, the hazards to isolate (fire, explosion or both), detection already present, dust data (Kst, Pmax), and hazardous area classification.
