BS&B · Explosion Isolation Valves
Ritec partnerBS&B Redex RSV-D active isolation slide valve
Fast-acting slide valve, DN50 to DN500, closed by a gas generator on a signal from explosion detection, protecting conveying and product lines against explosion propagation.
Passive isolation valves depend on airflow and are not suitable for lines that carry product. The Redex RSV-D is an active alternative: a slide gate that sits fully open in normal operation, offering an unobstructed bore, and is driven shut in milliseconds by a gas generator when the detection system sees the start of an explosion.
Because it is triggered by pressure or optical detectors rather than by the pressure wave itself, the RSV-D can be installed closer to the protected vessel and works on product-laden lines in either flow direction. It is normally part of a Type IPD system together with the detectors, system monitor and, where required, suppression cannons.
Selection data we need
Line size and product, conveying velocity and pressure, dust explosion data (Kst, Pmax), the protected vessel and its protection method, and hazardous area classification.
Applications
- Pneumatic conveying lines with product flow
- Product discharge lines from mills and dryers
- Lines where a passive float or flap valve would block the product
- Isolation of connected vessels in a suppression system
