Jacoby-Tarbox 860-F / 4000-S cylindrical sheathed sight flow indicator

The sheathed indicators keep the long view of a glass tube but put it inside a body that takes the loads, so they can be used in horizontal or vertical lines with some mechanical strain. The borosilicate tube is visible through slots in the sheathing.

The 860-F has a rugged cast iron body with flanged heads cast in the metal the service requires, and the joints around the cylinder are sealed with a stuffing box. The 4000-S is a lighter, lower cost construction with a bronze body and heads machined from bar stock. In both, the fluid only touches the heads, the glass and the gaskets, never the body.

Ratings are 150 psig on the small sizes, dropping to 100 psig on a 3” 860-F.
