BS&B · Rupture Disks
Ritec partnerBS&B Vac-Saf HiLo bidirectional disk
Two-way rupture disk that relieves both vacuum (12 to 747 mbar) and overpressure (0.2 to 5.2 bar) in one device, DN50 to DN200, in the HL-7RS or HL-7R holder.
The HiLo answers a common problem on tanks and low-pressure vessels: the equipment must be protected against vacuum collapse as well as overpressure, and the two limits are very different. A single HiLo disk is calibrated to burst at a low pressure in one direction (the vacuum side, from 12 mbar) and at a higher pressure in the other (from 0.2 bar), replacing two separate disks and two holders.
The disk is non-fragmenting and mounts in the HL-7RS pre-torqued or HL-7R pre-assembled holder. It is used on vessels with nitrogen blanketing, on reactors that alternate between pressure and vacuum steps and wherever a breather valve is not acceptable because of a corrosive or polymerising medium.
Selection data we need
Size, required burst pressure in each direction with temperature, normal operating pressure range in both directions, medium and flange rating.
Applications
- Tanks and vessels exposed to both vacuum and overpressure
- Nitrogen-blanketed storage
- Reactor vent lines with vacuum drying steps
- Replacing separate vacuum and pressure disks
