Low-pressure relief devices that protect lithium battery cells and packs against runaway thermal events: eVent LPS, eVent HL, eVent G and ORB/OFA, 20 mbar to 138 bar.
A lithium cell in thermal runaway produces gas fast. If the pressure inside the cell or the pack casing cannot escape in a controlled way, the casing fails where it is weakest. BS&B has supplied millions of battery vents that give that gas a defined, repeatable path out, at a pressure the housing can tolerate.
The range covers four technologies so the vent can be matched to the housing and the required burst pressure: the metal reverse buckling eVent LPS, the very low pressure eVent HL with a fluoropolymer membrane, the graphite eVent G for larger openings at low pressure and the oblong metal ORB / OFA for compact, higher-pressure cell vents. Interfaces include threaded, clamped, bolted, snap-fit, quarter-turn and adhesive mounting, and BS&B supports low, medium and high volume manufacturing.
