Ritec partnerBS&B Type D forward acting disk
Composite forward acting disk with an 80 % operating ratio, 0.2 to 138 bar in DN50 to DN1100, available with fluoropolymer seal for corrosive media. Requires a vacuum support.
The Type D is a composite forward acting disk. A pre-slotted metal top section defines the opening pattern and carries most of the load, while a thin seal membrane, usually a fluoropolymer, keeps the process sealed. Splitting the two functions raises the operating ratio to 80 % and allows lower burst pressures than a solid Type B of the same size.
The seal material can be chosen for the medium, which makes the D a practical answer for corrosive service on large low-pressure equipment. The metal parts open in a controlled way, but some seal material may be released on bursting, so we do not recommend it directly under a safety valve. A vacuum support is required when vacuum or back pressure can occur.
Selection data we need
Size, burst pressure and temperature, operating pressure, vacuum conditions, medium and flange rating.
Applications
- Corrosive media where a lined disk is needed at moderate cost
- Large low-pressure vessels
- Replacement of existing Type D installations
- Gas and liquid service
