Jerguson SAS-16 and RS-2 point level switches for Magnicator

Point level switches that clamp to the Magnicator chamber with no process contact and adjustable set point: SAS-16 Tri-Magnet snap-action SPDT switch rated 10 A, and RS-2 / RS-2/2 hermetically sealed latching reed switch for DCS inputs.

Switches clamped to the outside of a Magnicator add alarms and control points without extra process nozzles. Each one can be positioned anywhere along the chamber, and none touches the process.

The SAS-16 uses the Jerguson Tri-Magnet principle: as the float passes, magnetic repulsion snaps the switch over, with no cams or springs. That makes it resistant to vibration and repeatable, and its 10 A contacts can drive pumps, valves or alarms directly. Several SAS-16 switches on one gage can cover low, low-low, high and high-high.

The RS-2 is a hermetically sealed bi-stable reed switch that latches when the float passes. It never needs opening and gives a clean low power signal to controllers or a DCS. The RS-2/2 has two reed switches for DPDT action.

Note: the Magnicator brochure lists the SAS-16 to 750 °F process temperature, the newer bulletin M100.27 to 350 °F. We confirm the rating per application.

Selection data we need

Magnicator model or chamber size, number and function of switch points, load (voltage, current) or DCS input, process and ambient temperature, area classification and approvals, housing material and junction box.

Applications

  • High, high-high, low and low-low alarms on a Magnicator
  • Direct control of pumps, valves and alarms (SAS-16)
  • Low power inputs to DCS and starter circuits (RS-2)
