Jerguson MGWR magnetic level gage with guided wave radar

Magnicator magnetic level indicator combined with a guided wave radar transmitter on one set of process taps for true redundant level measurement, as single chamber MGWRS or dual chamber MGWRD, GWR brand to customer preference.

The MGWR puts two independent level technologies on one set of process taps. The Magnicator measures on density: a sealed float with magnets follows the liquid and turns a wide flag indicator. The guided wave radar measures on dielectric: microwave pulses travel down a probe and are reflected by the liquid surface. If the float fails the radar still gives a correct output, and the radar reads the true level even when the product density changes.

The single chamber MGWRS separates the float and the radar probe with a slotted baffle plate. It is compact and light, and the baffle reduces the effects of flashing and of build-up in media with heavy particles. The dual chamber MGWRD has a separate chamber for each device, so either can be isolated with valves while the other keeps measuring; FlashProof chambers are available for flashing or dirty service.

Both versions can measure total and interface level, and the radar can be any brand the plant prefers.

Selection data we need

Single or dual chamber, centre-to-centre distance and connections, medium with specific gravity and dielectric, total or interface level, design pressure and temperature, steam service, preferred radar brand and output, materials and indicator options.

Applications

  • Steam drums, feedwater heaters, deaerators, condensers and blowdown tanks
  • Oil and gas separators, knockout drums, desalters and fractionators
  • Chemical storage, separation and reaction vessels, solvent and ammonia tanks
  • Distillation columns and reflux accumulators
