Reliance prismatic (reflex) water gages and RGL 100 illuminator

Reliance prismatic gages give a clear, sharply defined image of the water level. The glass is flat outside and has 90° prisms on the inside. Light hitting the prisms at 45° is totally reflected where steam is behind the glass, so the steam space looks white; where water is behind it the light passes through and the black gage housing shows. There is no doubt where the level is.

Two designs cover the pressure range: C types for boiler design pressures up to 250 psi and S types up to 350 psi. The Reliance clamping design puts a uniform, firm load on the tempered borosilicate glass for a long service life. Sections can be combined into double, triple and quadruple assemblies for long viewing ranges on storage and heater tanks, and gages can be installed in vertical or Tiltview assemblies.

Prismatic gages are a common replacement for tubular glass: the overall length matches, although the visible range is 3 to 6 inches shorter. The RGL 100 LED illuminator improves contrast in poor light.
