Jerguson LumaStar EPL-100 and EPL-316 LED gage illuminators
White LED illuminators for reflex and transparent glass level gages in hazardous areas, Class I Div 1 and ATEX / IECEx Ex db [ib] IIB+H2 T4, about 100,000 h life, aluminium EPL-100 or all 316 SS EPL-316.
A level that sits between two glass sections, or behind dirty glass, is easy to misread: an operator may think the gage is full or empty. Coloured LEDs make it worse, because green or amber light blends in with the colour of the process fluid. LumaStar illuminators use white LEDs for high contrast, so the level stays clear even on dirty glass.
The EPL-100 has an anodised aluminium body; the EPL-316 is built entirely in 316 stainless steel with a stainless explosion-proof power supply. Both are approved for Class I Div 1 and Zone 1 and carry ATEX and IECEx markings. One power supply lights up to 58 inches of gage at less than 250 mA, and the LEDs last about 100,000 hours, which ends bulb changes.
The light mounts at the rear of transparent gages and at the front of reflex gages, and fits any glass gage.
Selection data we need
Gage type (reflex or transparent), series, glass size and number of sections, supply voltage (115 VAC, 230 VAC or 24 VDC barrier), area classification and approvals needed (North America or ATEX / IECEx), and housing material (aluminium or 316 SS).
