Jacoby-Tarbox in-line eductor

In-line eductor (jet pump) for pumping liquids and gases, mixing and direct steam heating with no moving parts, 1/2" to 3" cast units with NPT or Class 150 flanged connections, hygienic version 1" to 4".

An eductor uses a pressurised motive fluid to move another fluid. The motive enters the nozzle and is accelerated, in a converging nozzle for a liquid or an expanding nozzle for gas or steam. The high-velocity jet drags the material in the suction chamber into the diffuser, which lowers the chamber pressure and draws in more fluid through the suction inlet. The diffuser then slows the mixture and converts its velocity back into pressure at the discharge.

With no moving parts there is nothing to wear, lubricate or power, and eductors can be used in hazardous areas without explosion-proofing. Jacoby-Tarbox in-line eductors pump liquids and gases, blend fluids and heat liquids by injecting steam directly into the process. The flow path is validated with CFD, and the nozzle is a separate part, optionally with a gauge port.

The standard cast units run from 1/2” to 3” with NPT or Class 150 flanged connections, in materials from carbon steel and bronze to plastics and nickel alloys. The hygienic in-line eductor, 1” to 4”, uses a standard tee body with SF4 finish, USP Class VI seals and GRQ hygienic clamps, and has to be flushed from both motive and suction side for proper cleaning.

Selection data we need

The duty (pumping, mixing, heating), motive fluid with pressure, temperature and available flow, suction fluid with its properties and flow, the required discharge pressure, connection type and size, and material.

Applications

  • Pumping liquids with a liquid, gas or steam motive
  • Pumping or exhausting gases
  • In-line blending and mixing
  • Direct steam heating of process liquids
  • Hygienic lines in pharma, biotech and food (hygienic version)
