Rectangular flameless explosion venting for indoor equipment: an explosion vent behind a stainless steel mesh that quenches the flame and retains burning dust, 170 × 470 mm to 1130 × 1130 mm.
A conventional explosion vent releases a fireball several metres long. Indoors that is not acceptable, and ducting the vent to an outside wall costs vent efficiency and is often impossible. The R-IQ makes venting possible where the equipment stands.
Behind the explosion vent sits a densely packed stainless steel mesh. When the vent opens, the hot gases expand through the mesh, which absorbs the heat and quenches the flame while retaining burning and unburnt dust. What leaves the unit is pressure and hot gas, without flame or dust. The rectangular format matches the common Vent-Saf panel sizes so the R-IQ can be fitted to standard vent openings.
Flameless venting still raises the temperature and pressure in the room, so the surrounding space must be assessed. We include that in the venting study.

Vessel volume and strength (Pred), Kst and Pmax, operating conditions, the room volume around the unit, and the available mounting area.
