Reliance Simpliport 180 bi-color ported water gage with LED illumination

Direct reading bi-color boiler water gage to 3000 psi (206 bar): stainless steel ported gage body, red/green LED illuminator and wide angle viewing hood readable from anywhere within 180°, built to ASME Section I.

The Simpliport is the Reliance direct reading water gage for high pressure boilers, in service since 1962 with more than 15,000 units worldwide. It works on refraction: light does not pass through water on the same line as through steam, so with the light source and ports placed precisely, the water shows as green ports and the steam above as red.

The Simpliport 180 system combines a stainless steel gage body, a red and green LED illuminator and a wide angle viewing hood. From anywhere within 180° of the hood the level is clearly visible, which shortens operator time near the boiler and in most cases removes the need for mirrors. The LEDs replace the old coloured glass strips and incandescent lamps and last up to ten years.

The 304 stainless body is repairable. Spiral wound gaskets with an inner support ring remove the hot-torque step on start-up, and thick V1 mica shields protect the glass. The P4000 Series with nipple or flange connections goes to 1500 psi, the flanged P4100 to 3000 psi.

Selection data we need

Design pressure and temperature, required visibility and centre-to-centre distance of the water gage valves, P4000 or P4100 and connection type, gage orientation, supply voltage, area classification (ordinary or Class I Div 2) and options such as sun shield or mirrors. The Reliance order specification sheets list every field.

Applications

  • Direct reading water level on power and industrial boiler drums
  • HRSG and combined cycle drums
  • Retrofit of existing Simpliport gages with the wide angle hood
  • Ordinary and Class I Div 2 hazardous locations
