Detects sparks, embers and flame travelling through dust extraction and pneumatic conveying ducts and extinguishes them with an automatic water curtain within the duct, without stopping production.
Most dust collector fires and explosions start with an ignition source that was carried in from somewhere else: a spark from a sander, a hot bearing fragment, a glowing ember from a dryer. Spark detection catches that ignition source in the duct, where it can still be dealt with, before it lands in a filter full of dust.
Detect. Infrared SDN sensors are mounted in the duct wall downstream of the spark source. They react to the radiation of sparks and embers in milliseconds; SDD sensors are used where daylight can enter the duct.
Extinguish. The Control Unit DCI opens the automatic extinguishing device a few metres downstream, producing a fine water curtain across the duct for a few seconds. The spark is quenched, the water is carried away with the airflow and production simply continues. Repeated detections raise an alarm and can trigger shutdown, damper closure or an ESI-P isolation valve.
Monitor. The DCI is certified for installation in the dusty work area so operators see the status locally. An optional external monitoring panel supervises several systems and records every event.

Duct diameters and layout with distances, air velocity, material being conveyed, location of possible spark sources and of the protected equipment, water supply, and hazardous area classification.
